| ASN | Advance Shipment Notice — a document notifying the WMS of an upcoming delivery. |
| GRN | Goods Receipt Note — a printed document confirming goods have been received. |
| LPN | License Plate Number — a unique barcode label on a pallet or container. |
| Lottables | Product-specific attributes captured at receiving — e.g. Batch Number, MFG Date, Expiry Date. |
| Putaway | Moving received goods from the dock to a storage location. |
| Receipt | The WMS record of a physical delivery. Always linked to one or more ASNs. |
| Storer | The client or owner of the inventory being received. |
| UOM | Unit of Measure — e.g. QTY, KG, CASE, PALLET. |
| Inventory State | The condition of inventory — e.g. NORMAL, DAMAGED, QUARANTINE, HOLD. |
| Cross Dock | Inbound goods bypass storage and are directly allocated to outbound orders. |
| Blind Receiving | Ordered quantities are hidden from the operator to ensure unbiased counting. |
| Short Close | Closing a receipt when not all ordered goods have arrived. |
| Wave | A group of PICKING orders assigned to pickers in a single planning cycle. |
| Pick & Pack | Simultaneous picking and packing into cartons as items are collected. |
| Kitting | Assembly of multiple component items into a single kit product. |
